SSA Mumble server open

Mumble is a voice chat program similar to Ventrilo. I've set up a Mumble server for SSA. It's currently in testing to see how much bandwidth it uses. It is likely that I'll have to restrict it to weekends only or something, but right now it's near the end of the month and I have over 170 GB of unused bandwidth. Current user limit is 16. To use it:

Download and install the Mumble client. Go through the mic configuration wizard. Go into the server list and add a new server. Address is superswordaction.com. Port is 5540. Get it? 554 = SSA (and 554 is already a registered port). Enter your forum username for Username. Servername doesn't matter, it's only how it appears to you in the server list.

Connect. If it promps you for server password, it's ssa_mumble. It will give you some message about a bad certificate from the server; don't worry about it, that's normal. Right-click your name in the channel tree and click Register. Choose the default option when it says stuff about generating a certificate. You can't talk in the lobby, you need to be in the main SSA channel, and to enter that, you need to be approved by an admin (I'm the only admin currently). Give me a poke on IRC or something and I'll approve you.

Don't forget to right-click your name and click Register.

Mumble server is no longer online due to lack of interest. If there's enough interest, I can start it up again.

    Huh, downloading right now...
    thick azn accent incoming!
nvm, I'm an idiot (i mean to what i just deleted now)
  3. Ring "...that's my role."

awesome I'll be on more often
  4. Garble o no

    Connection timed out. Server down?
  5. MelodyInsanity {The Unimaginative Title}

Pretty awesome, but i dislike how there's not much people to talk to...
and also, i really shouldn't stay in the lobby and talk to myself.

Auuugh, what a pain this program is! Such a hassle to calibrate! It's constantly echoing during the Voice tuning process; how the hell am I supposed to set it up if it's warbling itself the whole time?

    *sigh*

Use headphones or mute the sound when calibrating.

Messed with it some more and got it to a semi-satisfactory state. Dice and Mady seem to think my voice still sounds like a robot, and I think they can hear my music too... I'm beginning to wonder if it's my microphone or possibly even my sound card.

Never had this problem with Vent, though...
  9. Ring "...that's my role."

    Free things come with perks

this IS free right greg? .-.
  10. LHCGreg Code monkey like Fritos

Yeah, unlike Ventrilo and other software, the Mumble client and server software is totally free (and open-source).
  11. Phil FML!

Lol i say use xfire for vent
  12. FenixStryk Member

Comparatively, Mumble is better for me since Mumble is actually able to sense my microphone, unlike Xfire which doesn't even know where it is.
  13. Phil FML!

I ment like if he has a problem with bandwidth, xfire supplys you a free voice server
  14. Ring "...that's my role."

im getting off D:< noone's on
  15. Heidi Member

I am, but I'm idling due to it being first thing in the morning and my voice will be messed up :p

Grrrrr why didn't you suggest that when I was having trouble with it? :p
  16. Ring "...that's my role."

lol yeah I cant send you a msg either ... :l ill be afk too then D:<
  17. Heidi Member

Yeah, I noticed that you're afk in SSA Main rather than the Lobby.

  18. Ring "...that's my role."

I cant talk in the lobby for some reason .-.

    *headdesk*

Also, lol... we couldn't figure out why he could barely hear me and I couldn't hear him at all. I had my headphones plugged into microphone port and microphone plugged into headphones port :p

Ive done this alot, also, Fenix use earphones, as the mic will pick up your speakers otehrwise, and thus, If I talk while your talking the sound echos through.
